In October 2009, Dixon was awarded the post of Lead Artist and Programme Coordinator of Chapel Arts Studios.

Chapel Arts Studios is a small collective of contemporary artists who are based in the grounds of St. Marys church, Andover. This new convertion functions as a creative hub for the Andover region. The conversion of the once-dormant chapel was managed by the Test Valley Arts Foundation, with the intention of supporting emerging artists, and providing outreach programmes for the Andover community.

Chapel Arts Studios want to support and encourage experimentation, practice and the exchange of ideas. The artists involved with the studios all share a common ground of flexible, process-based work, whether this is painting, video, sulpture, drawing or installation.

Alongside the development of the studio work, Chapel Arts is also committed to engagement with the wider community, and has begun to develop an exciting programme of workshops, education and events. The studios were officially opened on October 2009, and have a compliment of four artists. Two of these, the lead artist David Dixon, and fellow artist Yonat Nitzan-Green, are full-time inhabitants of the studio. The remaining place is shared between Russell Moreton and Kate Harding on a rolling 6-month tenureship. They will be sharing their time between the Chapel Arts studios and their placement on the Chapel Arts Educational Residency programme.

The current programme includes artist talks, graduate artist support, a residency prgramme, exhibitions and public events.
